PCM stars across DHBs, from Counties Manukau to Nelson Marlborough.
DHBs are responsible for providing or funding the provision of health services, including hospitals, in their district.
Our co-operation with several DHBs in New Zealand started in 2009 with CMDHB and expanded over time to include Lakes DHB, NMDHB, CDHB. Some DHBs now have an ‘in-house’ medical doctor PCM certified, who provides seminars to managers, doctors and nurses under the umbrella of the respective DHB.
It proved especially effective to have teams of different departments undergo PCM training together. Team cohesion, mutual understanding of roles and responsibilities and processes are only a few of the take-away results of PCM training embracing professionals from several disciplines in a hospital.
“There was I time I wasn’t feeling so well. As a GP I decided to have regular supervision for about three years. Which was great and it played its part, but it didn’t give me any of those tools you – after just three days – pick up and start using them. It’s like a ‘phillips head’ screw driver for a phillips screw. It’s so much better. PCM gave me practical tools that you can start using today.”
