Training more than 100 doctors and social workers has made a significant impact

Background

Siemens is a global powerhouse positioned along the electrification value chain as well as in the areas of medical imaging and laboratory diagnostics. Siemens has around 350,000 employees in more than 200 countries. Siemens medical services in Germany look after the welfare of 150,000 employees. The 70+ medical doctors and 34 social workers are organised in geographical regions. Each region is managed by a senior doctor. People management in this organisation is both internally and externally relevant.

Training

We implemented PCM with all their medical doctors and social workers, a total of more than 100 managers and staff. Eight years later, Siemens saw such value in the original PCM training that they expanded PCM training to more than 100 medical assistants who support occupational physicians in company medical practices throughout Germany.

Results

The Head of Siemens medical services in the first training round was so enthusiastic about the model and the programme that she decided to become a Certified PCM Provider herself.

“I had many lightbulb-moments regarding my past, and saw instantly how easy I will be able to apply PCM in my professional and personal life. I learned a systematic way to deal with myself and others. I’m not limited to intuitive responses anymore!”

“Useful for me as I have many direct reports, but I also learned a lot about myself; will use it in the future.”

“This came exactly in the right moment helping me to grasp new opportunities in both my personal and professional life.”

In the second round of training, Siemens senior staff said:

“The impact of PCM training became an integral part of our organisational language. Although it required senior employees to step down from their duties for three days, the training proved to be an investment that Siemens would undoubtedly make again.”

“We can recommend this training to every company that wants to invest in improving communication structures and behaviour in order to sustainably promote its employees.”
